June Extra Edition: The Bourbon Resource
A zoom call for subscribers, and a very special release
Hi all. There are a couple of developments, and I didn’t want to wait until the July newsletter to bring them to your attention:
ZOOM CALL FOR SUBSCRIBERS!
I’m going to start holding occasional (3-4 times a year) Zoom calls with special guests to discuss a specific aspect of bourbon and the industry. These are all free to subscribers of this newsletter (and feel free to invite a friend!). Those in attendance will be able to ask questions and participate in the discussion.
Please mark your calendar for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9. We’ll discuss, among other things, the underappreciated aspects of the nose and palate and how various factors influence your perception of bourbon.
I will have the July newsletter out by July 7. It will contain all of the information about the call and our special guest. I hope to see many of you there.
Babe Ruth Gets a Bourbon
Remus Bourbon, a product of Lux Row Distillers, has released its limited edition Remus Babe Ruth Reserve that’s getting a lot of buzz. Remus has released 10,624 bottles, one for each of Babe's plate appearances. Additionally, a QR code links the bottle number to Ruth's plate appearance and tells you what he did. Remus Bourbon has had a lot of luck recently in the higher-end bourbon space --- this one goes for $149.99 --- and I'm anxious to try it. I hope to have a review for the July newsletter.
Remus has had great success with higher-end bourbons recently. Its 12-year double-barrel bourbon is one of the better high-end bourbons on the market. The Lux Row Gatsby Reserve, the 2022 version, was named the best Ultra Premium Bourbon last year.
